Since the aircraft is nearly
three hours late in arriving at Srinigar, your departure is delayed by as
many hours. Once you do leave, the flight is uneventful, although as you
approach Delhi's domestic airport it feels as though the pilot is practicing
aerobatic snap rolls rather than gently lining up with the
end of the runway. What was supposed to be a rather lengthy
layover in Delhi is reduced to a few short minutes, after which you board
another Indian Airlines plane bound for Jaipur.
When you arrive and exit the airplane it is like walking into a wall of heat. It will take some time to adjust to the climate of the plains. You and an autorickshaw driver are able to agree on a reasonable price to go to the hotel, so you pile yourself and your luggage in the back and you are off, weaving through traffic. When you check in at your hotel, you are told of a two-day camel trek that the hotel organizes through the nearby desert. As fascinating as this trek sounds, it is a hard decision because it will only leave you two days to see Jaipur. After a moment of reflection, you inform the clerk of your decision [to go on the trek] [to stay in Jaipur].
